EASIDE. Or.. Sept. 5. (Special.)
The general eodus from Seaside
was most perceptible this past
week. Cottages are closing, tourisis
ife . turning homeward. and the
'younger folk are hastening back to
the city to get ready for the coming
school year.
The special trains will continue their
"present schedule until mid-September,
.and the Moore hostelry, Sargent's Sea
side House and Locksley Ilall have book
ing well Into this month. The Moore
will as usual remain open throughout
Xh year.
As long as the present weather con
ditions continue, it is predicted that
,the week-end crowds will go down as
usual. The special amusements on the
Shell road have folded their tents like
the Arabs and silently stolen away.
Boating and fishing on the always pic
turesque Necanicum are as popular as
la mid-season and a great many people
who either could not get away, or pre
ferred to come later to the beach, are
choosing September for their outing
month. The trip from Portland to Sea
side is a most lovely one at this sea
son of the year. Nowhere can be seen
finer., rarer. Autumnal coloring than
in the trees and meadows that border
tte beautiful Columbia.
