Prohibition Vicious as a Public Policy
Closed saloons bring about evil conditions. Think it over. If
you don't believe it, look up the Government census reports on
crime. They show that there is actually more crime in prohibi
tion communities than in -others.
Prohibition Is Not Necessary
There are plenty of laws now to control any abuses in the sale
of liquor. And this suggests the question: Where are the
dives the prohibitionists are always talking about?"
Prohibition Is Wrong Morally
If it is wrong for Carrie Nation to smash a man's property with
a hatchet, it is wrong for 10 men to ruin it with a ballot box.
The principle is identical. Think it over.

moral or progressive than ourselves ?

copy of the liquor license is
sued to him and his partner

Prohibition Raises Taxes
You don't have to look further than Oregon to prove it. Eugene,
Albany and 20 other dry towns in this state had to raise their
taxes after prohibition went into effect.
Prohibition Depresses Business
Only three states in the Union have ever suffe-red a decrease in population.
Two of them were prohibition states. Times r.re hard. Prohibition agitation
tightens business. Actual prohibition would make it worse yet and this
without counting the hundreds of men it would put out of employment.
Where Does Prohibition Stop?
Shall the vegetarian prohibit meat markets? Does the Chris
tian Scientist try to suppress drugstores? Would it be right
for them to do so, even were they in the majority?
Prohibition Betters Nothing
If the laws governing the conduct of saloons are not always
enforced as they should be, how would such a sweeping law as
prohibition be enforced? "If the footmen tire .you, how will
you run with horses ? "
