was a member of the Multnomah Club,
and served with tho Second Oregon Regi
ment In the Philippines. He left Port
land five years ago to follow his profes
sion as an architect. The Oakland Trib

of the engagement:
"The engagement is announced today
of Miss P. Persia Goodman, formerly of
this city, and William Puff Sherman, of
Sacramento.
"Miss Goodman Ik one of the well
known musicians about the bay, and has
a large social acquaintance as well. She
is the attractive daughter of Mrs. I... P.
Prown. of Fresno. The talented young
bride-elect has appeared frequently at
Mills College and Is a member of all the
prominent musical organizations.
"The romance which has its culmina
tion in the announcement today had its
beginning at the time of the earthquake,
when the gifted girl was In San Fran

dent of architecture. The friendship
