Mrs. Wells left on the midnight train
for Victoria, R. C. where they expect
to remain a fortnight at Mr. Douglas
palatial country home.

the pastor. Rev. Clarence True Wilson,

At the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John
M. Wallace. 187 East Thirty-seventh
street, on Thursday evening, April 2, Wil
liam Corrlgall Cormack was united in
marriage to Jemima Margaret Ska. both
formerly of Orkney, Scotland, and now
of this city. The ceremony was performed
by Rev. Andrew Wilson, of the First
1 'nlted Presbyterian Church. Mies Mary
Work was bridesmaid and James Cor
mack, a cousin of the groom, acted as
groomsman. Miss Margaret MacPherson
rendered tho wedding march and also
flayed selections during the evening. The
newly married couple departed for their

silk, and he carried a large, trailing

Mr. and Mrs. J. TV, Gale, of Woodstock, celebrated their golden wedding
April 7 at tha horn of their daughter. Mrs. N. P. Tomllnson, 1MM East Taylor
street. They were the recipients of a number of gifts commemorating the
event, and all present enjoyed the excellent luncheon. The occasion aim
served to celebrate Mrs. Gale's birthday, ihe and Mr. Gale having been mar
ried on her lth birthday at Lone Rock. Iowa County, Wisconsin, April 7.

stopping In tha Boise Valley the following year when they came on to Portland.
In 1877 they moved to Palouse County, Washington, where they engaged In
farming until IfcSS, and then they returned to Portland, where they have since
resided. Both are enjoying a hale and hearty old age and expect to celebrate

visit to friends and relatives in Paris,

herself in the Berlitz literary course,

rect system for tha study of the

Miss Irma Roper, of San Francisco, is
visiting her cousin, Mrs. Ralph Wilde. In
this city. Miss Roper is a native daugh
ter of Portland, but this Is her first visit
to her old home sines her birth. Her
father. R. R. Roper, now manager the
National Union Fire Insurance, at San
Francisco, was for many years local
agent In Portland.
Miss Ella M. Carlisle has returned from
an extensive visit through the East and
South. Chicago, New i'ork, Boston and
Washington, D. C. were among the
larger cities in her Itinerary. She visited
many of the natural wonders of America
