Mr. Lawrence A. MoNary,
My Dear Sir :
I understand you are a candidate for
Judge in Department No. One of this Judi
cial District. I want to indorse your
candidacy, and say that you were City
Attorney of this City for three years
while I was Mayor, and I had an excellent
opportunity to Judge of your qualifica
tions for that office. It affords me
pleasure to add that you were an honest
and efficient officer, and, with en un
blemished reputation, have in my Judgment
the abilities and legal attainments which
a candidate ought to have to be elected
Circuit Judge in this District.
Yours very truly

A Physician Should Be Coroner.
Dr. Stott was the first candidate
for Coroner to declare in favor of a
public morgue, his announcement ap
pearing in The Oregonian Feb. 'Z:
" I have consulted no undertaker,
or other person, or persons, especially
interested in the conduct of that of
fice, concerninj; my candidacy, and if
1 am nominated and elected, I shall
endeavor to distribute the patron
ages of the office impartially among
the several undertaking establish
ments of the city. I am, in fact,
at present of the opinion that the es
tablishment of a public morgue, if not
an immediate public necessity, very
soon will be. Such an institution
would obviate many annoyances to
the Coroner and public in general, and
do away with many embarrassments
and political preferences that have in
times past obtained in this county in
connection with the Coroner's offiee.
"Very respectfully,
