A mass meeting; of the laboring men of
the town was held last night to detise
a plan to rid the city of a number of
Greek laborers without resorting to vio
lence. A eoitimittee .was appointed to
confer with the mlllowners and request
that the Greeks be refused employment,
while another committee was appointed
to Interview owners of houses In which
the Greeks are residing and endeavor to
have them e.1vt the-latter and refuse to
longer rent houses to them. Although

The ninth annual ' goat show for Or
egon, held during the past three days
In Dallas, by the Polk County Mohair
Association, closed last night. Record
crowds were In- attendance during tti
entire show, special trains being run
from various neighboring towns on the
last day. Representatives from the
leading agricultural periodicals of the
Northwest attended. Over 150 animals,
mostly registered stock, were exhib
ited. No cash prizes had been offered
for unregistered animals and their ex
hibit was comparatively small. The
Cotswold sheep from the Koser farm
at Rickreall and Gilliam's farm at
Bridgeport were exhibited. C. L. Haw
ley, of McCoy, showed- two pens of
thoroughbred Lhvcolns. Fred Koser,
of Rickreall, exhibited several pens of
blooded Berkshire swine, and S. D.
Steffy two pens of Poland Chinas..
Judges in the unregistered class
were B. L. Naylor, , of Forest Grove;
E. Van Evans and J. L Reasoner, of
Dallas. The Judges In the registered
class were G. F. Boothby, of Mon

Rogue River Farmers Will Convene
for Three Days' Programme. .
Much Interest Manliest.
, GRANTS PASS, Or.. Jan. 18. (Spe
cial.) Great preparation Is 'being
made' among the i poultry ' raisers - of
Josephine County for the Rogue River
Valley Poultry Show to be held here
January 30 and February 1.
This is the first instance in which
a competitive exhibit for poultry has
been attempted in this valley.. About
40 special prizes will be awarded.
More than a local Interest has b-een-manlfested
and many business houses
have readily come forward to contrib
ute prizes.' Every fowl will come In
for his share of attention, from the lit
tle bantam to the well-groomed Rhode
Island red. Considerable . space will
be devoted to turkeys, geese and ducks.
Besides awards for birds and fowls,
prizes will be offered ' for liHfferent
classes of eggs. The express company
has given special rates to those who
desire to ship poultry-to the show.v . i
One part of the room will be - ex
clusively devoted for the display of In
cubators, brooders and other poultry
supplies. The farmers and raisers of
fowls will be given an opportunity to
see the many modern methods now in
use for hatching and protecting the
little chicks. , -
Elmer Dixon, of Oregon City, who
is licensed - by the American Poultry
Association, has been secured to Judge
the exhibits. Professor James Dryden,
of Corvallls Agricultural College, will
superintend - the exhibits.
Following the poultry show, the
Stock Breeders' Association will hold
their meeting. This organization will
bring together some of Josephine Coun
ty's best stoek of- horses for driving,
draft and breeding purposes.
Added to this three days' programme
I the Josephine County fruitgrowers
i will hold their meeting thus bringing
together the entire county for a three
days' fair.
LOGGING ROAD UP WYXOOCHE
Montesano Mlllowners . Announce
Plans for Construction.
MONTESANO, Wash.. Jan. 18. (Spe
cial.) It was reported here last night
that the Laskln Brothers, the Lamb
Timber Company, and Dan McCrimmon
had - formed an agreement for the
building of a logging railroad up the
Wynoocbe River from this place. All
of these companies have large hold
ings of timber north of this city and
the agreement, was made in order that
each might use the road. . ,
The proposed road will run from the
Chehalis River up the Wynooche to
Black Creek; . It will also have switch
connections with, the Northern Pacific
Railway.
This new road will open op a large
section of new timber and will add
much, to the logging Industries which
