Ha. was driven to a police station and there charged with having, on the night of September 28, knocked down and robbed a woman named Mlchonnot. The pawn ticket was In the purse which he stole. The prisoner threatened the police with all sorts of penalties and gave as his address , one of the chlet hotels. Canfronted with witnesses, he at last dropped his high . tone and admitted that he was the son of a hawker mas querading as a gentleman of wealth. Further Inquiry showed that the car riage was hired and hie Jewels the proceeds of robberies, while stolen goods were fpund beneath the cushions of the vehicle. He passed the day at a great hotel, but when night came strolled out, changed ' his clothes, mounted a bicycle and searched the' streets of the quieter euburbs for victims whom he could rob by force. . He had heart trouble and was alone when death overtook him. He had been missing since Monday even ing, and was. found lying near a log, partly concealed by brush.
