I'iARLY Car to Vancouver. Mr. F. I. Kuller, vice-president' of the Portland Railway Company, announces that the tirst car for Vancouver on Sunday morn ings will leave Portland hereafter at 7 A. M. instead of 7:40. as heretofore. This will enable Portland people to make close conneotlun with the train for Ka lama. which leaves Vancouver on Sun day mornings at 8 o'clock. The new ser vice will also prove a great accommoda tion to the Vancouver people in facilitat ing early delivery of The Oregonian to the subscribers at Vancouver. Agents for University Park report that more lots have been sold at Uni versity Park this August than in any other one month since the addition was platted 13 years ago. The building re strictions and liquor restrictions are at tracting the better clasH. Columbia Uni versity, Bull Run water and location central to all the industries along the waterfront are also elements of attrac tion. Dr. I.arkin to Preach. Rev. Francis M. l.arkin, ID. Fine Peaches Raised in Portland. Mrs. H. C. Coe. of 65 East Sixteenth street, has visible proof that fine peaches can be raised in Portland. In her yard she has two trees that bear the beauti ful fruit. Two peaches of the Crawford variety measured yeMerday were 12 inches in circumference. The fruit is also line- in flavor. . Metzger. dean of the faculty of the Dallas College, has arrived and will occupy the pulpit of the First United Evangelical Church. Professor Metzger has been with the Dallas College for a number of years, and remarked yesterday that the outlook for that institution was never better. If the trustees are able to comply with Andrew Carnegie's conditions, the col lege will have a substantial, endowment. Thousand Delinquent Merchants. More than 1000 merchants are delinquent In their remittances for the city licenses for the third quarter of this year. These licenses become due July 1.
