Easter Holds This Great Store Captive
There's no time in the year when Fashion plays her exacting part more cunning no other time in the year whenj
the wide-awake store must meet with surer or more absolute certainty the wants of the "to-be" smartly dressed. That's
why all Portland has always looked to this store for the correct news of what is and will be. That's why, too, every year's
demands have grown and made it more imperative that we are in the very closest touch with fashion's centers. Visitors
to the store -tomorrow will find us in splendid readiness with a display of Easter Millinery of women's ready-to-wear ap
parel and dress fabrics of silk, and silk and wool, and wool and cotton, and silk and cotton.
You'll Undoubtedly Be Delighted With the
Newest Spring Modes in Women's Apparel
"We are now ready for your severest criticism, knowing, too, that you expect to find at this
store the greatest showing of new modes in women's high-class garments to be found in Portland.
More emphatically than ever will this store be recognized as the leading style and-quality- -store.
Modes different from those shown at other shops exclusive ideas.
Space will not permit of more than a mere hint in the way of description of the hundreds
of new ideas, and we could not do our styles justice in this manner if we tried. We want you to
visit this store and take your time in seeing the new things. You will enjoy it more and it will be
more satisfactory to us.
It will prove the truth of our right to say that never in Portland's history at this early date
has there been shown such an array of styles, values and ideas.
You will more than ever indorse our reputation as Fashion's leaders and value-givers in both
the medium and higher-priced garments. So come tomorrow.
We will place on exhibition tomorrow in the suit room:
Handsome Dress Suits of fine imported etamines, broadcloths, cheviots and an endless vari
ety of novelty cloths.
Walking Suits in Eton jacket, blouse and novelty styles, made of all the popular materials
and in this Spring's most wanted colorings some elaborately trimmed, others severely plain.
Imported Lace Custumes and Coats, handsome Voile Costumes in black, tan, lavender
and gray.
Imported Cloth Coats in white champagne and tan, silk lace, and pongee Coats in all lengths,
handsomely trimmed and lined.
Waists of silks, crepe de chine, peau de soie, peau de cygne, India silk, lawns, linens and of
novelty materials a wonderful variety.
Very attractive Silk Petticoats, Dressing Sacques, Kimonas in an endless variety of designs.
Shirtwaist Suits of pongee silk, fancy novelty silks and very beautiful cotton materials.
Misses' Suits, both trimmed and tailored; intermediate or school girls' suits, military and
sailor suits.
You'll Say That Ours Is in Every Way the
Handsomest Easter Millinery Hereabouts
Tot months the management of our Millinery store has been investigating every accepted
authority on the one absorbing subject the Easter Hat. Millinery skill and a complete interest
-i&ilpiir customers' desires and wants have accomplished a most satisfactory showing far ahead
orAnypreviou5 season.
What a festival for the eyes and for the fancy when the covers are lifted from the boxes to
morrow when our spacious Millinery Salon is turned into a garden of loveliness.
A resume of what is to be worn will no doubt be of interest.
Glaring and up-tilted brims will to some extent be worn, while as a contrast to them there are among the new
models shapes where the brim is quite flat and other shapes where the brim is quite drooping all broad around the
front and sides and narrower and m some models turned down at the back. All have distinctive crowns, this indicat
ing that the plateau hats have had their day. The crowns of the large hats may be described as low and medium low-
one and a half to 3 inches in height generally square or a little inward slope in the bell effect some pointed front
occasionally the crown of boat shape with points side to side. Turbans and Toques are numerous smaller than last
season yet much on the "box" order. The Toques show much variety tending strongly to the boat idea.
If there's one prevailing style it's -the "Colonial" seen in many forms same colors and materials Paris uses.
Several Paris Hats have ostrich plumes. The colors start with champagne shades and brown, then violet shades,
reds, greens and blues. Colors susceptible of blending from deep to the palest tints.
The trimmings start with delicate mohair and tuscan braids. Then there are shaded chiffons, shaded malines with
plenty of lace, touches of gold and silver here and there. Even gold laces, small effects in flowers, such as long-stemmed
daisies, rosebuds, shaded hops, dainty buttercups and small fruits are much seen.
