The statement that tho police are looking: for hold-up man does not seem to terrorize the knights of rest In tho least, and at an early hour last night they added another victim to their list. At tho same time they wrote in their own diary "another disappoint ment," for the victim had no money. N. P. Snider, of 310 Park street, was going home shortly before 11 o'clock. At Park and Madison streets he was met by two masked men, who promptly ordered him to throw up his hands. For the pleasure of bunting and the food value of many varieties of Mongolian pheasant, Oregon is Indebted to the late Judge O. N. Denny. 'His widow resides In Portland, S75 Sixteenth street, corner Montgomery, and yet only one Sportsman out of the hundreds in this city has ever thought to show his gratitude to Judge lenny by sending a brace of birds to Mrs. Denny. Perhaps this is due to ignorance of the fact that Mra Denny lives here; not to lack of appreciation or to selfishness. It is not too late to com pensate, in a measure, for tha long neg-h-ct, and this hint is likely to prompt a f w Portland hunters to a tardy acknowl edgment pt the considerable service to them which Judge Denny rendered. Initiate the Freshmen. The good-natured but innate contempt that seniors, Juniors and sophomores have ever felt for hapless freshmen vented Itself in a lively demonstration at the North Pacific Dental Colloge last evening. The occasion was the annual initiation of freshmen, and while, up to a late hour, no fatalities had been reported, tho yells of terror and fright from the throats of terrified fresh men aroused tho sympathies of the neigh borhood. Following the initiation, the warring factions declared a truce and re paired to the banquet hall, where an en joyable evening was passed. Scottish Rite Masons "At Home."
