Gambell, 288 Holla day avenue, Monday morning, September 20. The contracting parties "were Mr. L. D. W'hitehurst, of Tacoma, Wash., and Miss Susan Gambell, the well-known so prano soloist of this city. The Rev. W. O. Forbes -was the officiating clergyman. The parlors -were tastily decorated -with green and potted plants and cut flowers, the prevailing colors being pink, a deli cate shade of which also marked the bride's gown. The bride sang one of her favorite solos at the request of the com pany, after which all partook of an ele gant wedding breakfast delicately served. At two o'clock the bride and groom took their leave for their new home In Ta coma, where Mr. Whltehurst is engaged in buslnss. Their many friends wish them much happiness. Misener-Yonngr. On last Tuesday evening, in the pres ence of a few Intimate friends, Mr. Jo seph Misener and Mrs. Kate J. Young were united In wedlock by the Rev. Mr. Lathrop, of the Grace M. E. Church. The ceremony was performed in the church parlors, immediately after which the new ly married couple left for Southern Ore gon for a ten days' trip and shall return to make their home in Portland. Mr: and Mrs. Misener are both well and fa vorably known in fraternal and social circles In this city, Mrs. Meisner having the honor of serving as the first grand chief of honor of the Degree of Honor of Oregon, and Mr. Misener served as Grand Chancellor Commander of the K. of P. Labovltch has returned from a visit of Several weeks to New York and Chi cago. Mrs. Fred May and daughter, Maud, have returned from a month's -visit with Mr. May's brother, Walter May, of Ta coma. They were accompanied home by the Misses Sadie and Mattie Doran, of Tacoma, who will visit friends here. Miss Grace Holmes, who is well known in educational circles in Portland, has accepted the position as instructor of oratory in the Webb City College, at Webb City, Mo. Miss Holmes expects to return to Portland at the close of the college term. Rev. George L. Learn and wife, of Hannibal, N. Y arrived at Mdntavllla on Tuesday evening to take charge of Grace Church, Montavilla, and Mount Tabor Church as their pastor. Until the par sonage at Montavilla is made ready they will be the guests of W. G. Smith and wife. Miss Teal, who has been at Hood River for the past year and a half, has decided to stay another year. She will occupy the cottage belonging to H. H. Holmes. Hood River air has proven greatly beneficial to. Miss Teal, and her many friends will be pleased to hear she has grown much stronger during her stay there. Mr. L. W. One of the most Import ant social events of the season was the mar riage tonight of Miss Leone E. Palno and Luke Ladoro Goodrich, both prominent in so cial circles in Eugene, and well known la oth er parts of the state. The ceremony was per formed At the residence of the brldfc's parents. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon; was president of his class last year, and was manager of last year's football team. He is at present holding an important position in a bank here. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dlerko gave a charming musicale last Sunday evening to a number of their friends. The im pression Mrs. DIerke made by playing the masterpieces - of Beethoven, Chopin, Schuman, Schubert, Wagner, Liszt and Tschaikowsky were such as only a world-famed pianist could have created. Mrs. Charles Rueff, who was in excellent voice, delighted the listeners with songs by Massenet, George Bizet, and others, which she sang with the genuine French spirit.
