Murphy entertained the Old Folks Whist Club and a number of other guests at their elegant home on Court street. In a very enjoyable manner. The first prizes were won by Mrs. C D. Gabrlelson and Hugh Williamson. A pretty home wedding took place on Wednesday afternoon, December 12, at the residence of the bride's parents in this city, when Miss Lena Royal,' of Salem, was wedded to Mr. William A. Adams, of Marlon, Rev. X. Shupp performing the Impressive ceremony. The wedding march was played by Miss Marguerite Alderson, and a wedding collation was served after congratulations had been extended. Mr. and Mrs. Adams left on the Albany local for their home, followed by the best wishes of a large circle of friends. The initial party of the MardI Soir dancing Club took place at the Willam ette Hotel on the evening of December 11. and was well attended by Salem's so ciety people. The ballroom was superbly decorated with palms and other exotics, while a choice orchestra gave pleasure to all. The grand march was led by the president of the club, Dr. E. A. Pierce, and wife. Mrs. Pierce was charm ingly gowned in pile pink silk muslin, trimmed with black velvet ribbon and lace. A pleasant surprise party -wao given Miss Nellie Brant last Saturday evening by a dozen of her young friends. Th evening was pleasantly passed in games, after which a light lunch was served.
