Baltimore Preparing to Follow Port

A great plan to utilize the power of the
"Susquehanna for electrical purposes upon
the plan of the Niagara works has been
given definite shape at Baltimore by the
incorporation of the Susquehanna River
Electric Company. George K- McGraw,
John S. Bull and Winfield J. Taylor and
other Baltimore and Pennsylvania cap
italists are the incorporators. The com
pany will operate electrical works, tele
graph and telephone lines. The capital
stock is $100,000. but it is estimated J6.O0O.
000 worth of bonds of the company will be
sold in New York alone, one banking
house agreeing to take the whole lot.
The "Westlnghouse Electric Company is at
the back of the project. The prime object
of the company will be to furnish electric
power to the street railways of Baltimore,
"Wilmington, Philadelphia, and intermedi
ate towns. The company has purchased
eight miles of shore land on both sides
of the river, extending from tidewater
to Conowlngo. At this point the stream
will be turned inland, and a large dam
constructed. The machinery will have a
capacity of 40.000 horee-power. The com
pany will be able to furnish power at
less than $$0 per hore-power per annum.

the dam as soon as the spring rains and
freshets are over, and it is expected
power will be furnished January 1, 1895.

Railway Company, of Baltimore, and
Messrs. Elkins and TYIdener, of the Phil
adelphia traction syndicate, are Interested
in the project.

of five (5) per cent per annum, payable on the

about the day of February, 1S03, and D. F.
Sherman was duly appointed administrator of
her estate by the county court of Oregon, for
Multnomah county: and whereas, said Eliza
beth Lewlston. at the time of her death, was
indebted to sundry persons, firms and corpora
tions, and since her death said D. F. Sher
man incurred an indebtedness to various firms,
persons and corporations In the running and
management of the International Hotel, said
hotel being a part of the assets of said es
tate, and the claims presented against Eald
estate being of two classes: claims existing
against Elizabeth Lewlston at the time of her
death, and claims 'incurred by D. F. Sher
man, administrator; and whereas, F. R.
Strong Is now the duly appointed administra
tor of said estate since the resignation of D.
F. Sherman as administrator; and whereas,
L. H. Allen and C H. Lewis, co-partners doing
business as Allen & Lewis, and I. Lang, E.
Lang. Max Lang and Louis Lang, co-partners
as Lang & Co.. are claimants herein, and by
their attorneys. Cox. Cotton, Teal & Minor,
have petitioned the above court Tor an order
requiring and directing the administrator, F.
R. Strong, to pay their claims in full; and
whereas, doubts have arisen as to the propri
