The Vancouver Volcanoes
were founded in 2005 and
played in the well-respected In-
ternational Basketball League
(IBL), winning the champi-
onship in 2011. Despite being
embraced by the community,
the Volcanoes became inactive
after the IBL ceased operations
in 2014.
Current owner Curtis Hill and
his wife Sara took over own-
ership of a Portland ABA team
and re-branded them as the Port-
land Storm in 2019. After mov-
ing the team to The Basketball
League (TBL) in 2020, they de-
cided to relocate and bring back
the Volcanoes to Vancouver. Af-
ter sitting out the 2021 season
due to COVID restrictions, the
Vancouver Volcanoes now look
to further their development in
their 3rd season as part of the
TBL. The Volcanoes compete
in the West Division with 9 oth-
er teams, with 61 teams in the
league in total.

amas Cavalier who led the team
in Points and Rebounds, and
back to back playoff appearanc-
es. After Clackamas, he played
at North Idaho College, where
he averaged 19 points per game
on 55% from the field, Valpara-
iso University, and finally Port-
land State University. Golder
is a 6’6” wing, and a true lead-
er on the court, with dynamic
scoring potential.
Andre McCowan scoring
talent was evident not only in
highschool at Roosevelt High
where he was awarded multiple
all-conference awards, but also
in his college career at Lewis
and Clark, where he played for
2 years. McCowan will no doubt
be a scoring threat this year, and
creates matchup inefficiencies
for any defense.
Charles Jones is a 6’2 guard
who played at David Douglas
High School in Portland, Ore-
gon. While in high school, he
was named to the all-state team
twice. After high school, Jones
played at College of Southern
Idaho, Utah, Portland State,
and finally Multnomah. While
at College of Southern Idaho,
Jones was a NJCCA All-Amer-
ican both seasons. He was also
the Spalding NJCAA Division 1
Men’s Basketball Player of the
Year in his second year with the
Golden Eagles. Jones started
eight games combined both at
Utah and Portland State.
