Hosts Gala to
Grow Live Arts
Education
Metropolitan Performing Arts
(MPA) will host their Annual
Cabaret Gala featuring perfor-
mances by their student talent
on May 5th, 2023 at the Prov-
idence Academy Ballroom. This
event aims to raise funds and
create awareness about the arts
and theater education in Van-
couver WA and how it grows
and strengthens the character
and well-being of our youth.
This will be the 6th annual
Cabaret Gala that acknowledges
theater and live arts in Vancou-
ver and the ongoing need to have
a place where all are accepted
for who they are and where they
are in their own discovery. This
year, there will be performanc-
es of select excerpts by the very
talented students at MPA along
with a dessert dash, paddle raise,
and silent auction.
“There are fun games, great
entertainment, delicious apps,
and complimentary wine! We
raise both operational and schol-
arship funds at this gala. We
have recently approved the es-
tablishment of a second schol-
arship fund” said Kathleen Jung,
MPA Board Member & Theater

providing live theater to SW
Washington.”
Scholarship funds at MPA are
distributed to students in need
to give them the opportunities
to participate in group classes
and private lessons, depending
on the specific application. MPA
truly embraces diversity and in-
clusivity as they welcome actors
and students from all socioeco-
nomic backgrounds, ages, and
ethnic, racial, gender, sexual,
and religious identities. This,
along with community and do-
nor support, pulls together peo-
ple from all walks of life who
may not meet along traditional
paths.
“Without community involve-
ment, theaters cannot sustain life
on their own in order to con-
tinue to grow and provide new
outreach and great performance
opportunities for our communi-
ty. We need support,” said Kris
Heller, Artistic & Education Di-

public speaking, and to have a

plore and create.”
