The legacy of Mr. Kent Ford, co-found-
er of Portland’s chapter of the 1960s-era
Black Panthers and a lifelong champion
for the empowerment of Portland’s black
community, will come to life this month
with a new solo play.
The Vanport Mosaic with Confronta-
tion Theatre present Walking Through
Portland with a Panther: The Life of Mr
Kent Ford. All Power! by Don Wilson
Glenn, directed by Damaris Webb and
featuring La’Tevin Alexander.
The newly commissioned play incor-
porates archival footage and storytelling
to understand the legacy of the civil rights
movement, to rediscover lost neighbor-
hoods where the Panthers used to patrol,
and to learn the intimate makings of un-
sung leaders of protest and revolution.
Ten performances are scheduled, June
16 through June 26, at Portland Play-
house, 602 N.E. Prescott St. Tickets are
