Killingsworth St., will host a community Kwanzaa celebration on Saturday, Dec. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community Kwanzaa Celebration The North Portland Library, 512 N. Killingsworth St., invites the com- munity to join them for a free Kwan- zaa holiday celebration event for the whole family, featuring storytelling with Javelin Hardy and candle lighting with Joyce Harris, on Saturday, Dec. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All youth (0- 18) will receive a free gift book. Light refreshments will be provided. Kwanzaa, meaning “first fruits” is a week-long African American celebration. Each of the seven days is dedicated to one of the following principals: Umoja (unity), Kujich- agulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity) and Imani (faith).
