As Secretary of State, she reinforced America’s alliances; advocated for democ- racy and human rights; and pro- moted American trade, business, labor and environmental standards abroad. She received the Presi- dential Medal of Freedom, the na- tion’s highest civilian honor, from President Obama in 2012.
