Heart Transplant Team Leaves
Oregon Health & Science Univer-
sity last week suspended perform-
ing heart transplants because of a
staffing shortage, facing the de-
parture of a fourth cardiologist on
its heart transplant team. No rea-
son was given for the departures.
An OHSU spokeswoman said the
hospital has started to help people
transfer to other transplant cen-
ters, including the University of
Washington while it looks to hire
new heart surgeons.
