March for Justice
A peaceful march for freedom, unity and justice led by young people in the community in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday fills both sides
of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Monday. The 4th annual Children’s March for Social Justice was sponsored by the grassroots organization
Don’t Shoot Portland. Along the way demonstrators waved signs for justice, chanted Black Lives Matter and celebrated the late civil rights leader by playing
Stevie Wonder’s homage to Dr. King, “Happy Birthday” on an external speaker and reading King’s “Letters from Birmingham Jail” at the Martin Luther King
Jr. memorial sculpture at the Oregon Convention Center where the march concluded.
