Spalding Joins Art Museum Party
Four-time Grammy-award winning
musician Esperanza Spalding is coming
home to her native Portland to headline
an After Party night of entertainment as
the Portland Art Museum throws a big
ballroom party for its 125th anniversary
celebration on Saturday, Sept. 23 in the
museum’s Kridel Grand Ballroom.
As one of the biggest names in mod-
ern jazz, Esperanza has collaborated
with such legends as Patti Austin, Herbie
Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Prince plus
performed at the Oscars and the White
House. Her private concert for the Mu-
seum promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime
musical experience.
And while Esperanza may be headlin-
ing the After Party, the fun does not stop
there. The notorious Poison Waters will
host the evening while DJ Strange Babes
spin tunes long into the night. There will
be an open bar, fabulous nibbles and
birthday cake. Tickets are $125 ($85 is
tax-deductible).
Proceeds will help ensure that the inno-
vative exhibitions, education programs,
and partnerships that have been the Muse-
um’s hallmarks will continue to thrive—
today and forward into the next 125 years.
