More than 1.6 million brightly colored lights transform the Oregon Zoo into a walk-through winter wonderland during ZooLights, the annual
holiday light display now running through New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
Luminous Zoolights
ZooLights, the Oregon Zoo’s
popular walk-through winter won-
derland of more than 1.6 million
colored lights, presented by the
Oregon College Savings Plan and
Banfield Pet Hospital, is bigger
than ever this year.
A continuous loop now draws
visitors on a glowing, kaleidoscop-
ic walk through the zoo. A carousel
has been added, and the train ride,
a popular add-on attraction, once
again features an interactive expe-
rience with some favorite seasonal
characters.
Over the past five years, near-
ly a million visitors have strolled
through the ZooLights forests of
lighted trees, dazzling life-size il-
luminated animal silhouettes and
ridden the light-bedecked zoo
trains.
The zoo offers a $5 admission dis-
count for visitors who take TriMet
to the event and offer proof of rid-
ership. To purchase event tickets or
