‘Hamilton’ Star Tours Portland

Odom Jr., direct from his sold-out run as
‘Aaron Burr’ in the blockbuster hit musical
“Hamilton,” will honor some of the musi-
cal inspirations behind his first solo album,
Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald, during
his first Portland concert, Tuesday, Nov. 15
at the Newmark Theater, downtown.
The 10-track album blends tender jazz
vocals with R&B, soulful new interpreta-
tions of beloved songs that have been long-
time favorites of his, including “Look for
the Silver Lining,” a new arrangement of
“The Guilty Ones” from Spring Awaken-
ing, and the album’s first single “Autumn
Leaves.”
Odom originated the role of ‘Burr’ in the
sold-out Off Broadway run of “Hamilton”
in 2015. He made his Broadway debut at the
age of 17 in Rent before heading to Carne-
gie Mellon University’s prestigious School
of Drama, where he graduated with honors
and became a protégé of Tony winner and
Bay Area Cabaret artist Billy Porter.
