The mother of Patrick Curry Sr. would like to invite
you to join her in a “Celebration of Life Appreciation”
honoring her late son Patrick Curry Sr. on Saturday,
June 4 at Columbia Park (North Lombard Street) start-
ing at 2 p.m. in the park’s covered area.
There will be music, food games and a chance to
share your memories. No alcohol please.
If you have a memorial t-shirt in Patrick’s memory,
please wear it and if you don’t and would like to order
one, they are $10 and the last day to order is Saturday,

Lovers of aviation and aspir-
ing pilots of all ages are invited to
Open Cockpit Day at Pearson Field
and the Pearson Field Education
Center of the Vancouver National
Trust on Saturday, May 28.
Sponsored by Blairco Heating
and Air Conditioning, the event
offers the public an opportunity
to view historic planes up close,
climb into the cockpit of vintage
aircraft, and take a turn “lying”
the Real Flight 7.5 simulator pro-
gram on a large screen TV.
Additional activities will in-
clude the popular vertical wind
table, glider-building station and
light simulator lab. Owners of
aircraft stored at Pearson Field
will bring out their planes, and in-
vite the public to sit inside and get
a pilot’s-eye view of the controls.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 3
p.m. and all activities are free.
Protest Songs
around the World
Around the world, music has
often played a part in the strug-
gle against violence, war and op-
pression. To celebrate these glob-
al rhythms and to take a stand
against violence, three musical
choirs at Portland State Univer-
sity present a special combined
performance of protest songs
from around the world.
“Global Rhythms: Stand
Against Violence” will include
guest
percussionist
Valerie
Naranjo of the Saturday Night
Live Band and songs from South
Africa, Eastern Europe, the
American South and more.
Performances will be held at
Lincoln Performance Hall, 1620
S.W. Park Ave., on Saturday,
May 28 at 7:30 p.m.; and on Sun-
day, May 29 at 4 p.m. and 7:30
p.m. Tickets are $15 for gener-
al admission and $7 for seniors,
available at the PSU Box Ofice,
