A horrific tale of an innocent man caught up in the perfect storm of injustice is coming to Portland’s
Northwest Film Center.
Caught in Storm of Injustice
“Bloodsworth, An Innocent
Man” tells the story of Kirk
Bloodsworth who was sentenced
to death in 1985 for the brutal kill-
ing of a young girl in Rosedale,
Md. Eight years later he became
the first person exonerated by
DNA evidence.
Using animation and inter-
views, film director Gregory
Bayne sets this harrowing story
against Bloodsworth’s continuing
fight to repeal the death penalty in
Maryland.
Profiled for the Stage
(AP) – A play about comedian
and civil rights activist Dick Greg-
ory will open off-Broadway this
spring starring Joe Morton and with
an original song by John Legend.
“Turn Me Loose,” by Gretchen
Law will play in New York starting
May 3.
Gregory, 83, was one of the first
black comedians to be embraced by Dick Gregory
The film screens on Thursday,
April 7 at 7 p.m. at Whitsell Audi-
torium, located in the Portland Art
Museum. Admission is $9 general
and $8 for students and seniors.
