Festival of Fire -- A cul-
tural and musical event to
promote Persian culture and
heritage as spring brings the Persian
New Year will be held Tuesday, March
15, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Oaks Park Dance
Pavilion in southeast Portland. Sponsored by the
nonprofit Andisheh Center for all ages, the night
will include festive and traditional foods, children’s
activities, fire-jumping and more. Tickets are $10
with free admission for kids under 10.

Free Brain Fair at OMSI -- All ages won’t want

Hybrid Human Artist in Portland -- Works by
New York-based artist and Ken-
yan native Wangechi Mutu have
achieved global acclaim for cre-
ating some of the most important
contemporary African art of re-
cent years. The artist will appear
in Portland Thursday, March 10
as part of an exhibit on her art
sponsored by the Pacific Northwest College of Art.

free event is open to the community.
Discount Tickets -- Local low-income families
and individuals can purchase $5 tickets to classi-
cal musical performances in Portland as part of a
unique program called Music for All. Participating
organizations include the Oregon Symphony, Port-
land Opera, Oregon Ballet Theater, Chamber Music
Northwest, Portland Youth Philharmonic, Portland
Baroque Orchestra, Friends of Chamber Music,
Portland Chamber Orchestra, Portland Piano Inter-
national, Portland Symphonic Choir, Cappella Ro-
mana and Portland Vocal Consort.
