Discrimination Lawsuit
A former employee of Calaroga Terrace
has iled a racial discrimination lawsuit
against Paciicia, the operators of the
Lloyd District senior living facility. Ebo-
ny Hankins, an African-American woman,
alleges that two nooses were found hang-
ing in the employee break-room in 2014.
She says the white director of the housing
complex laughed when she brought up her
concerns, and later failed to renew her em-
ployment contract.

Sergio Xambrano, a 42-year-old man from
Florida was arrested on Sunday in Portland
on rape and sexual abuse charges involving a
juvenile victim, a 12-year-old girl that he met
on Instagram, a social media site that normal-
ly lets users share photos and images.

post. Darin Tweedt was under ire recent-
ly because one of his investigators used a
computer surveillance tool called “Digital
Streakout” to monitor hashtags that target-
ed black activists like #BlackLivesMatter
on twitter. An on-going investigation into
the surveillance continues.
Gresham House Fire
Fire crews responded to a Tuesday morn-
ing house ire in Southeast Gresham that
killed a handful of cats and sent one res-
ident to the hospital according to reports.
Crews arrived around 8:30 a.m. and man-
aged to save a dog and a cat inside the
house, with a second cat running out from
the rubble later.
Stolen Weapons Found
Police oficers arrested two men Saturday
after inding several stolen weapons inside
the tent they were sharing in northwest
Portland along with a stolen vehicle that
was parked nearby. Eric Christian Nunez,
24, and Jordan Alexander Clark, 42, were
taken to the Justice Center jail.
Sanders Rally Draws Crowd
Over 1,000 people showed up to Pioneer
Courthouse Square in downtown Portland
Saturday afternoon to support Democrat-
ic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Sanders was not there in person but had
over a dozen speakers address the crowd
on his behalf, including City Commission-
er Steve Novick and State Rep. Rob Nosse.
