Vivian, a close friend and lieu-
tenant of the late Rev. Martin
Luther King Jr., will be the
speaker at this year’s Martin
Luther King holiday weekend
celebration at Mary’s Woods
at Marylhurst, a senior residen-
tial community. He will share
his lifetime experience on the
inner circle of the Civil Rights
Movement.
The second annual event
is on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2
p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy
Names in Lake Oswego. Port-
land’s Northwest Freedom
Singers, a choral group com-
prised of the city’s finest voic-
es, will perform inspirational
songs and gospel hymns.
After speaking, Dr. Vivian
will participate in a Q&A ses-
sion with those in attendance.
A reception will follow with an
opportunity to meet Dr. Vivian.
