Aug. 28, 1963 -- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I Have A Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.
Letter from Birmingham Jail
April 1963 -- Responding to eight Jewish and Christian clergymen’s
advice that African Americans wait patiently for justice, King pens
his “Letter from Birmingham Jail” after he and his close friend Ralph
Abernathy were held in jail for seven days after being arrested during
a protest.
