A Creative Explosion
‘Paris is Burning,’ a landmark 1991 film showcasing the golden age of vogueing
and drag ball culture in New York City through the experiences of people of color in
the late 80s and early 90s, will screen on Friday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. at the Portland
Arts Museum. The newly restored version of the documentary is presented thanks
to the Northwest Film Center and a Nov. 19-21 series of films presented as part of a
national Association of Moving Image Archivists conference. For more information,

A community Fix-It Fair, a free
event where neighbors come to-
gether to learn simple and effec-
tive ways to save money and stay
healthy at home this winter and
beyond, will be held Saturday,
Nov. 21 at Parkrose High School,

Sponsored by the Portland Bu-
reau of Planning and Sustainabil-
ity, the fair will feature exhibits
and workshops from dozens of
community partners from 9:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. Experts will be
available to talk about water and
energy savings, home and person-
al health, food and nutrition, com-
munity resources, recycling, yard
care and more.
The fair also provides free pro-
fessional childcare and lunch to
attendees.
