Sidney Kellon, a 2008 veter-
an who served in the National
Guard Reserve and the Marine
Corps, says he has learned about
and benefited from many of the
Transition Projects services this
year. It was the second time he has
been helped with housing since
his military service ended and he
was grateful for the hard work of
people like Glover and Israel.
“You have to always be look-
ing for a way to make something
work out for you,” Kellon says.
“For me, knowing other veterans
have put in so much work to take
care of each other is already a big
first step.”
On Friday, as a group of veter-
ans spent time using the common
area facilities of the Bud Clark
Commons, Oregon Congress-
woman Suzanne Bonamici got
a close up view of the resources
available.
“Transition Projects serves a
critical role in the community
by providing services and hous-
ing for people in need, including
many veterans,” she said. “Local
and state leaders have committed
to working toward ending home-
lessness. In Congress I will be
advocating for programs and re-
sources that provide more afford-
able housing and I will continue to
advocate for education and eco-
nomic growth to address the root
causes of poverty.”
