A remarkable exhibition
on World War II now show-
ing at the Oregon Histori-
cal Society, downtown, will
offer free admission to all
veterans on Veterans Day,
Wednesday Nov. 11, thanks
to a generous sponsorship
from Columbia Sportswear.
The society’s museum and
research library located at
1200 S.W. Park Ave. will be
open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
on Veterans Day.
“World War II: A World at
War, A State Transformed,”
presents the worldwide con-
flict through artifacts and
manuscripts on loan from
the Portland-based Mark
Family Collection..
The exhibit also focuses
on Oregon, a state trans-
formed during the mid 20th
century, including the so-
cial impact of the Kaiser
shipyards, the internment of
Japanese Americans, and the
only World War II casualties
to occur in the continental
U.S.—the result of a Japa-
nese balloon bomb.
