Neo Soul
Night at
the Analog
A homegrown soul singer is getting
ready for her next big show right here in
Portland. Tamara Stephens will perform
live Saturday night at the Analog Café &
Theater, 720 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd., fol-
lowing a Grown and Sexy Neo Soul Party
with DJ Mello Cee. The show, starting at
8:39 p.m., will also feature Chicago Step-
pin sessions offered by the Groovin High
Steppers.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at
the door.

Essential Gus Van Sant --
The Northwest Film Center
is currently showing a series of
films by Gus Van Sant, the Portland
director honored as one of the most tal-
ented and imaginative filmmakers of the indie film
renaissance. The series, which includes such notable
successes such as “Drugstore Cowboy,” “My Own
Private Idaho,” and “Elephant,” along with other
movies that influenced Van Sant’s film practice, runs
through June 5.

Asian Pacific Heritage Month -- Portland’s Lan
Su Chinese Garden celebrates Asian Pacific Ameri-
can Heritage Month during May with exciting per-
formances every Saturday and Sunday from local

10 event, which will take place at noon.
