Jefferson Dancers Showcase
A spring concert to
bring you to your feet
The Jefferson Danc-
ers, Portland’s premier
pre-professional high
school dance company,
are celebrating their 39th
season and annual Spring
Concert. Performances are
Thursday, April 29 through
Saturday, May 2 at the
Newmark Theatre.
The community is invited to join the Jefferson Dancers
for their annual Spring Concert at Portland’5 Nemark The-
ater. Five performances are scheduled Thursday, April 29
through Saturday, May 2.
These high-energy performances by Portland’s premier
pre-professional high-school dance company are sure to
thrill and inspire you. The skill and passion that these stu-
dents of Jefferson High School infuse into the program will
bring you to your feet.
The Jefferson Dancers will be fresh off their tour of
France and they will be ready to showcase a wide variety of
dance styles including Jazz, Tap, Modern, Contemporary,
Hip Hop and African dance.
The program will also include guest choreography by
Jefferson Dancers alumni, including Bethany Reisburg
from the Hot Shot Tappers; Charlotte Faillard from Ater-
balleto and Ballet d’Europe; Ty Cheng from Spectrum
Dance Theatre; and Thomas Yale, a Portland hip hop
choreographer.

Honoring Native American Art
A community exhibit of Native American artists exploring and sharing their heritage
opens Saturday, May 2 and runs through June 6 at Concordia University in northeast
Portland. “Honoring Native American Art” will take place at the George R. White
Library and Learning Center and feature cultural art by artists, Ed Edmo, Joe Cantrell,
Mark Shelton, Joe Howard, Ray Losey, TomMann, Toma Villa, TY Ravenwolf, Adrian
Lavie, Beth Rakoncay and others. A catered “Meet the Artists” reception will be held on
Sunday, May 3 at 2 p.m., and Native American story-telling, beading, music, drums, and
other special displays. The exhibit and catered reception are free and open to the public.
At other times, the exhibit can be viewed during normal library hours.
