Films — Film series at the Cascade
Campus of
Portland Commu-
nity College is the long-
est-running annual Afri-
can film festival in the
United States. Screenings
continue through March
8 with films ranging from
full-length features to
documentaries and short

Techies on Bikes — On Monday, Feb 23 at 6:30 p.m.,
the group Techies on Bikes will meet at Portland Prime,
121 S.W. Third Ave. Meet -new -friends and enjoy a
happy hour. In honor of Black History Month, the
group is looking for any memorials or parks that
celebrate African-Americans’ contributions to this
country that participants can bike to.
Farmers Market Open for Winter — The Portland
Farmers Market at Portland State University is now
open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the South
Park Blocks. Some produce to expect during the winter
months include stacks of purple and green kale, broc-
coli and cauliflower, carrots, parsnips, beets, apples,
pears, winter squash, potatoes, and onions.

Chicago Steppin’ Classes -- You have seen the R. Kelly
video, now it’s time to learn the dance! Portland’s
Groovin’ High Steppers offer Chicago Steppin’ classes
at the Rockwood Community Center in Gresham and the
Colwood Golf Center in northeast Portland. All levels are
welcome. No partner is needed. First two lessons are

Black Films for February — The Hollywood Theatre
features a series of films for Black History Month

series focuses on important cinematic contributions

Fourth Sunday Jam Night — A friends and family
variety comedy show in a Saturday Night Live format
