Jordan Pilot Burned Alive
Islamic State militants put to death a captured Jorda-
nian fighter pilot by burning him alive in a cage,
according to a video the group released Tuesday. The
kingdom vowed a swift and lethal response to what it
called a "barbaric" act.

court the appearance, he was reportedly taken to the
hospital, complaining of chest pains.

last week that the death
of her husband in a car
accident last summer has
led a change of heart
about running for re-elec-
tion. Fritz says her late
husband would have
wanted her to use his life
insurance policy to fund a
campaign for a third term, and keep her campaign
independent from lobbying or private interests.
Burglars Raid Woodstock Laundry
Vancouver Motel Fined
East Precinct officers responded to Woodstock laun-
dry early Monday morning after a truck backed in the
building to break down walls and steal the change
machine. Anyone with information is encouraged to

The Washington Department of Labor and Industries
has imposed a $112,450 fine on a Vancouver Motel 6
for repeatedly exposing workers to hypodermic needles
while they cleaned rooms. The workers were also
never given required training on the use of harsh
chemical cleaners they were required to use.

Nod to $15 Minimum Wage
Portland Mayor Charlie Hales used his third annual
“State of the City” address Friday to support a city $15
minimum wage for city workers. Hales also proposed
tax credits for companies that hire people with criminal
records.
Gang Shooting at Boss Hawg’s
Early Monday morning Portland Police responded to
Boss Hawg’s Bar & Grill on Northeast 102nd Avenue
on the report of a shooting. Two men were treated for
non-lethal gunshot wounds. Police said they strongly
suspect the attack was gang-related.
Discrimination Case Proceeds
A judge has determined that the Gresham bakery
Sweet Cakes did discriminate against a same-sex
couple in a civil rights case from last year. An admin-
istrative hearing scheduled for March will focus on
damages for the couple.
Fire Captain Drives Drunk
A Portland Fire Captain has been convicted of driving
drunk in a car crash that injured four people in Clatsop
County. Captain Robert Hutchins is spending five days
in jail for his latest conviction and faces disciplinary
action from the city upon his return.
