Les Kimber
Lesly “Les” Kimber, the co-
founder of the California Advo-
cate Newspaper, Fresno’s only
African-American media out-
let, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015,
surrounded by family and friends.
He was 80 years old.
Kimber was the first black
elected city councilman from
West Fresno and was founder
of Fresno's annual Martin Luther
King Jr. holiday celebration.
The family thanks the community for their support and contin-
ued prayers.
