New Beginnings for PCC Cascade
Expanded campus
opens with tours
and celebration
A public invite is out to celebrate and
tour two new buildings on the Portland
Community College campus in north
Portland.
The "New Beginnings" event will take
place on Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 2 p.m. to
6 p.m. and includes tours of both the new
Student Union and Cascade Hall, edu-
cational facilities built a top underground
parking on a spot once occupied by two
surface parking lots.
A ceremony with speakers will take
place in the student lounge on second
floor of the Student Union at 4:30 p.m.
and will include comments from College
President Jeremy Brown, Cascade Presi-
dent Karin Edwards, students, faculty,
the PCC Board of Directors and local
legislators. Food, music, and a light show
will be offered, as well.
Both buildings are part of the college's
2008 voter-approved $374 million prop-
erty tax bond program with $58 million
going to the construction and improve-
ments at Cascade which primarily serves
north and northeast Portland.
Cascade Hall is the new academic
building, which opened last fall. The
49,000-square-foot facility features fac-
