business at the site, died Satur
day at the age o f 78 after a long
illness.
Her husband, Paul Knauls, is
left behind to oversee the busi
ness and family affairs. The Knauls
have been known in the com m u
nity to be some o f the m ost popu
lar black entrepreneurs in town.
In their 48 years o f m arriage,
the couple also ran a string o f
nightclubs in Portland, including
The Fam ous Cotton Club, Paul’s,
and G e n ev a ’s R estau ran t and
Lounge.
