The 35-year-old R&B and soul
perform er, know n as “P o rtlan d ’s
M ost Soulful Singer’’ got her profes
sional start in the Rose City. A native
o f Peoria, 111., she has been a m em ber
o f P rin ce’s band “New Pow er G en
eratio n ” for the past few years.
“Stay - Soul Lifted” is the song that
won her the Soul Train award. She
was also nom inated for B est Inde
pendent R& B/Soul Perform ance for
her rendition o f “W hy Do You Lie?
and B est New A rtist.
W arfield also ju st finished a busy
w eekend, perform ing in New York
C ity ’ s legendary Beacon T heater at
Cyndi L auper’s annual star-studded
show, Home for the Holidays, a ben
efit concert.
She perform ed alongside such lu
m inaries as 50 cent, N atalie M aines,
Patty G riffin, Sufjan Stevens, Rob
Thomas, and Salt-N-Pepa. The show
was hosted by LG B T activists Rosie
O ’Donnell and Laverne Cox.
