school). Franklin High School ’ s new
track and field, the tenth o f the Ten
G reat Fields project, w ill be c o m
p leted in 2017, as part o f the voter
approved 2012 school im provem ent
bond.

The Ten G reat Fields endeavor, also
know n as the “ Places fo r Sport”
project, began m ore than 10 years
ago w ith a vision to ensure students
and neighborhoods all across the
city w ould have a safe and quality
field and track to use all y ear around.
It is a partnership betw een PPS,
N IK E , the C ity o f Portland, parents
and co m m u n ity m em bers.
Since the inception o f T he 10
G reat Fields project, N IK E and its
e x ec u tiv e s an d e m p lo y e es have
co n trib u ted approxim ately $2 m il
lion to the project. In addition, N IK E
is supporting the dedication w ith t-
shirts, signage and festive activi
ties fo r the Jefferson H igh School
com m unity.
