kicks off three
nights of
outdoor fun
The Northwest Film Center and
Zidell are continuing last year’s
unique, pop-up outdoor film series,
Drive-in at Zidell Yards, sponsored
this year by LAIKA.
Each evening at dusk, from Fri­
day, July 18 through Sunday, July
20, Zidell’s South Waterfront prop­
erty, between the Ross Island Bridge
and Tilikum Crossing, will be trans­
formed into a temporary outdoor
movie theater venue, accessible to
cars, bicyclists, riders of mass tran­
sit, and walkers alike.
Fashioned after the drive-in
movie theater experience of yester­
year, the event brings back a classic
American movie-going experience
into the heart of the city.

each a classic of their kind— aimed

temporary movie theater venue at ZidelI’s South Waterfront
property accessible to cars, bicyclists, riders of mass transit and
walkers alike.

“We didn’t really know what to
expect when we tried this last sum­
mer, but it ended up being incred­
ibly well received by the community
and a great opportunity for people
to come check out an emerging part
of the city that has long been closed
off to the public,” said Matt French
from Zidell. “We hope that even
more people come this year.”
Tickets are available exclusively
at the door and for cash only. Ad­
mission is $8 general and $12 for a

Celebration Kickoff
Mitsuki Desai plays the koto, a 6-foot lap harp o f 13
strings. She will be joined by other musicians and
dancers in ‘An Afternoon o f Japanese Music,’ on Satur­
day July 19 at 2 p.m. in the Beaverton City Library
Auditorium. This event is a kick off to the Beaverton
International Celebration being held the following week­
end on July 26.
