It happened around 3:15 a.m. at Soobie’s Bar & Grill at 333 S.E. 122nd Ave. Hahrahcio“HB” Branch, 26, of Portland was transported to a hospital and later died from his injuries. Police believe the shooting is gang related, and the Gang Enforcement Team was among a group of at least 20 officers who responded to the crime scene. While no suspect information has been released, several people were de­ tained for questioning. Housing Discrimination Tours Scheduled The com m unity is invited to sign up for a bus tour that presents several "lowlights" of Portland's hidden history of housing discrim ination, segregation and displace­ ment. Tuesday as the first retail outlet in Washington began legal sales of recreational marijuana. The state issued its first 24 retail licenses Monday, though not all businesses planned to start selling weed right away. State law allows the sale of up to an ounce of dried marijuana, 16 ounces of pot-infused solids, 72 ounces of pot-infused liquids or 7 grams of concentrated marijuana, like hashish, to adults over 21. Cougar ‘Euthanized’ A wild cougar was captured and euthanized in northeast Portland Friday because it had roamed into the city and "lost fear of people," according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. The cougar was hiding in a tall cedar tree. It stayed there for more than three hours and watched police below until it was successfully tranquilized by wildlife officials. New Columbia Shooting A vehicle and house were damaged early Monday in a suspected ‘gang-related’ shoot­ ing in the New Columbia neighborhood. Portland Police Bureau Sgt. Pete Simpson said officers got reports of the shooting around 12:30 a.m; no one was found wounded. The incident comes just days after 24-year- old Andre Coggins of Portland was fatally gunned down in the same neighborhood. Grandmother Assault A 34-year-old registered sex offender is ac­ cused of entering his grandmother’s north Portland home through a back door last week and sexually assaulting the 81-year-old who lives with a pacemaker. Willie Andre Johnson is also accused of sexually assaulting his uncle, 49, who was also in the house. H e’s being held on $780,000 bail. I w l!
