Largest Tree
Hug Challenge
On Saturday, July 12, Oregon
pride and world renown is at
stake as tree huggers from around
the northwest will gather at Hoyt
Arboretum from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
to defend the Guinness World
Record for the w orld’s largest
tree hug.
Portland tree huggers set a
new world record last year with
936 people simultaneously hug
ging trees for one minute at Hoyt
Arboretum; however, tree hug
ging challengers have already
attem pted to best P ortland’s
record, most recently in Nepal
and Scotland.
The new attem pt w ill take
place in the arboretum near
S o u th w e s t K in g s to n and
K night B oulevards. The event
is free and open to the public o f
all ages.
Pre-registration is highly en
couraged to ensure an accurate
count for the record book. For
