Deadly Drive-by Shooting
B ullets show ered a north P o rt­
land neighborhood M onday after­
noon, leaving one young m an dead.
A uthorities identified the victim as
24-year-old A ndrew L eon C oggins
Jr. o f southeast Portland.
T he shooting took place ju s t w est
o f N orth Fiske A venue in the N ew
C o lu m b ia area and the vicinity o f
M cC oy Park, w here children played
nearby.
C oggins w as found co llap sed on
the curb shortly after police recei ved
w ord on the gunfire at 2:46 p.m.
N eighborhood residents described
it as a drive-by shooting. Police are
calling the death gang related.
