July Show Focuses
on Children
“Nursery Rhymes, C hildren’s
Stories, Games and Toys,” is the
theme for July at Guardino Gallery,
2939 N.E. Alberta St.
Works by oil painter Jill McVarish
will be featured, along with the ere-
ations of four sculptors, James C.
Bassett (wood and metal games),
Stephanie Brockway (carved wood),
Steve Eichenberger (ceramic sculp-
ture) and Wayne Haack (kinetic
toys).
In the gallery’s feature area will be
works by Gesine Kratzner whose
background in animation definitely
shows in her sculptural work. By
employing a variety of sculpting
materials, Kratzner gives her crea-
tures personalities that are distinct
and alive, similar to the way she would
think about an animated character.
