Showcase tips
off Friday
Courtside Entertainm ent pre­
sents the Rose City Showcase by
Nike featuring some of the finest
young basketball talent in the na­
tion. Tipoff is Friday, June 6 at Lewis
and Clark College.
Before Dwight Howard became
an NBA All-Star, before Josh Smith
and Gerald Green won the NBA Slam
Dunk Contest, before O.J. Mayo,
Michael Beasley, and Kevin Love
became All-Americans and before
Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers
led Kansas to the 2008 NCAA Cham­
pionship, they all had one thing in
common - they participated in the
Rose City Showcase by Nike.
Now in its 12th year, the Show­
case, will once again serve as the
host to the nation's top grassroots
basketball players in the country
and catch a glimpse at some of the
future college and NBA stars of
tomorrow
Opening night will feature many
of the top players from the West
Coast from the classes o f2015,2016
and 2 0 1 7 , in c lu d in g P ayton
Pritchard, DeJounte Murray, Jeremy
Hemsley, Kendal Small, Derryck
Thornton, Caleb Swanigan, Tres
Tinkle, Stephen Thompson Jr., An-
thdny Mathis, Kadeem Strickland,
Bollo Gnahore, Jermain Haley and
Deante Strickland.
The intensity of the competition
w ill con tin u e through Sunday
evening when the 2014 Rose City
S h o w case C h am p io n w ill be
crowned in a game that starts at 7:05
p.m. at Lewis and Clark.
Overall the Showcase field in­
cludes 234 of the top ladies and
gentlemen from Amateur Athletic
Union high school age and under
teams on an exclusive Northwest
stage.
