A 2010 study o f health care
costs by the K aiser F am ily F o u n
dation show s that from 2 0 0 0 to
2010 average prem ium s fo r fam ily
co v erag e increased by 114 p er
cent. D uring that sam e p erio d a n
nual w o rk er contributions increased
by $293 dollars fo r single coverage
and $1 ,3 5 4 dollars fo r fam ily c o v er
age. A ll o f these price increases
took place before the health care law
w ent into effect.

ju stify prem iu m increases and p ro
hibits insurers from spending m ore
than 80 percent o f prem ium s on n on
health care related costs.

T he facts prove that, contrary to
m ischaracterizations spread by co n
servatives, Julie is actually an O bam a
C are success story.
T he A ffordable C are A ct is an
im portant step in the right direction
fo r o u r country. Insurance co m p a
nies can no lo n g er deny co v erag e to
people w ho are sick o r kick them o ff
their plans, ch ild ren are able to stay
on fam ily plans longer, and m illions
o f low -incom e A m ericans now have
health care co v erag e for the first
time.

L eaders in the H ouse o f R ep re
sentatives hav e voted m ore than 50
tim es to repeal the A ffordable C are
A ct, bu t they have not offered a
single rep lacem en t plan. Full repeal
o f O b am a C are is not a realistic o p
tion and the co n tin u ed attacks on
the law are a disservice to the A m eri
can people.
Stop the political attacks on the
health care law and w ork with D em o
crats to reach a realistic solution
that w ill continue the O bam a C are
success story.
