George Hendrix and Jerry Foster star as
Abe and Henry in ‘Two Old Black Guys Just
Sitting Around Talking, a funny play about
rivalry, friendship, and aging. Portland's
Afucan American theater company
PassinArt presents the play at the Ethos/
Firehouse Cultural Center. 5340 N. Inter
state. How playing through April 13.
Have you ever wondered what
it’d be like to watch two old black
guys sitting around talking? Well,
if you have a Gus Edwards play,
one of America’s leading black
playwrights, this is the perfect
comedy and a humbling portrait of
the aging process and how our
past will ultimately shape our fu
ture.
Abe and Henry grew up in the
same neighborhood, worked at the
same company and even loved the
same woman. However, they don’t
see eye to eye, as they make re
peatedly clear while they sit to
gether on the same bench each
every day. They are somewhat
bewildered by the world in front of
them, by the news, the busy pace
of passersby, and how invisible
they have become to everyone
around .
Cast members include local ac
tors Jerry Foster (Abe) and George
Hendrix (Henry) and director Sandy
Burgess.
Come watch “Two Old Black
Guys Sitting Around Talking” at the
Ethos/Interstate Firehouse Cultural
Center, located at 5340 N. Inter
state. Showings run through April
14, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30
p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.
Edwards will also be in Portland

cussion following 3 p.m. matinees
on April 5and April 6.
