Answer Center Helicopter
Crash
Portland Com m unity College students at the South­
east Center on 82nd and Division can now get all of their
questions answered in one place.
The college’s first Answer Center, a one-stop kiosk
where any student can access and navigate college
resources with the help of staff and volunteers— opened
inside the brand new Student Commons Building earlier
this year.
Student’s will no longer have to shuttle from depart­
ment to departm ent to access key services with the
center’s opening.
The kiosk includes assistance on issues related to the
Enrollm ent Services, Financial Aid and Student A c­
counts departments.
Southeast Center/Extended Learning Campus presi­
dent Jessica Howard says “To be able to offer this model

Under Idaho law, the canine was legally shot by the man; a
coyote hunter.
Teen Tanning Ban
A bill that will ban people under the age o f 18 from using
tanning devices was passed on March 12 in Washington
state. After the Governor signs it into law, it will take effect
in mid-June.
A helicopter jointly used by
Seattle news outlets KOMO
and King 5 crashed near the
Space Needle the morning of
March 18. Fire officials say they found two people dead in the
wreckage.
Crimea Joins Russia
A signing ceremony between Russian President Vladimir
Putin, the Prime Minister of Crimea and the mayor of the city
of Savastopol reportedly took place on March 18 making the
Crimea officially a part o f the Russian Federation.
Portland’s AFL Team Loses Opener
The Arena Football League’s newest team, The Portland
Thunder, lost its season opener and franchise debut at the
Moda Center on March 17 against the San Jose Saber Cats.
The final score tallied at 64-34.
Wal-Mart Game Trade-Ins
It was announced on March 18 that Wal-Mart plans to begin
letting video game owners trade in used games online and in
stores. The value for each trade-in video game will vary by
the title, console and age of the game.
Oregon Wolf Killed
March 14 a wolf from Oregon
was killed by a hunter in
Idaho. The wolf was collared
with GPS tracking and part of
a pack that had been intro­
duced to Oregon in the 1990s.
Minority Veterans Honored
24 soldiers received the Medal of Honor from President
Obama on Tuesday after their heroism was ignored during
their time of service because of their ethnicity. O f the 24 being
honored, only three are alive to receive the recognition.
